Romans 14:23 Devotional: A Reflection on Faith and Conviction

Todays verse that stood out to me this morning was Romans 14:23

"BUT whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from Faith; and everything that does not come from Faith is a Sin"

In this chapter Paul was talking about food and different things believers were unsure about. Some felt it was okay, others didnt. His point was that if you believe something might be wrong, but you do it anyway, then youre not acting in faith.

And that can apply to a lot more in life than just food...

A Personal Moment of Conviction

In the beginning of my walk I questioned back and forth whether or not gambling was a sin. I had some Christians telling me as long as I wasnt putting it before God and making it an idol it was ok...

But then on the other hand I had other Christians straight up telling me it IS a sin, and I should stop.

Well.... needless to say I continued gambling for about a year or so in the beginning of my walk.

I was in my Bible here and there trying to make it a daily habit, and I went to church every Sunday and Wed....

All while still going to the Casino EVERY Sat... and sometimes I would sneak over throughout the week.

One Sat night after I got home I felt extremely guilty for some reason..... and then that Sunday morning the very first worship song (Good Morning Mercy) started playing:

🎶 while I was sleeping... LORD you were working... on a mess I made like only I could do... 🎶

I instantly started crying!!

CONVICTION hit.

I KNEW in that moment I couldnt go back!!

God used conviction to pull me back toward Him, showing me that real spiritual growth comes from faith and conviction working together!

🔥 The Point of It All

If youre having to question something.... chances are its not good for you and you should stay away.

The Holy Spirit inside of us knows, and we just have to learn to trust Our Father and have faith that His way is better than our own.

If youre losing your peace, its not worth the price.
