The Lord has me Studying Joshua right now, and I found it REALLY interesting that He also put it on my Husbands heart for him and I to read Joshua together as well!!
So, I'm getting Notes in DOUBLE time with Joshua, and I wanted to Start sharing what I get as I go.
Upon rereading Joshua, what stood out at first was Joshua taking on his new role of leading the Israelites to the promised land, with God telling him several times, "Be Strong and Courageous," before the journey began.
Just Imagine being in Joshua's NEW Position.... Trying to FULLY Listen to God in such a Loud world, trying to be 100% obedient and needing to Lead People correctly to the Promised Land. That seems like A LOT of Pressure, and SO SCARY!!
So, I Loved the Fact that God Reassured him Several Times!!
God then goes on to mention in Joshua 1: 3-4...
"Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and Lebanon as far as the great river, the Euphrates River, all the land of the Hittites, and west to the Mediterranean, shall be your territory."
When reading those verses, I had the nudge to look up the Significance of Each of the territory.....
Wilderness = Testing/Trials.....Basically a Spiritual Classroom. A place for Spiritual Transformation/Growth
Lebanon = Symbolizes Strength, Beauty and Restoration
Euphrates River = one of the 4 rivers that flow out of the Garden of Eden....Signifies source of Life
Land of the Hittites = Serves as a Reminder of the spiritual and physical challenges faced.
West to the Mediterranean Sea = vital trade and culture route. A symbol of Gods Power and a Boundary for the interaction between God's people and the nations.
Boundaries are a Way to Protect God's People!!
When I read that I was in awe because I was just feeling really drained due to the fact I been going through some things with People in my life, and I had a Friend tell me
"Stop pouring out all your oil to those that aren't receiving it!! Since they are not absorbing it, you are just pouring it out blindly and essentially wasting it. Its literally draining you!"
So I took this as God's way of telling me I NEED to put up some Boundaries and quit blindly pouring myself dry!! With that Being Said....Boundaries do NOT mean abandonment and that we just completely Shut them out of our life.
We Need GOOD boundaries that are rooted in love and truth.....because those can minimize disputes and become bridges, not walls!
If the other person is NOT cooperating with said boundary...
Take that person and situation to God in Prayer and Let Him Lead the way in that situation....
Because Joshua 1: 12-15 goes on to talk about How EVEN though the Reubenites, Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh had already received land east of the Jordan River to settle in, which was granted by Moses in (Numbers 32).
Joshua reminded them of their commitment: Even though they were already settled on their land, they must Still get up and help the rest of Israel conquer the Promised Land!!
So my key takeaway from chapter 1 is....
Even though we may have already arrived in our "land", and we have found our "rest" in the Lord ....we have to remember there are still people on the other side of the "Boundary" that haven't made it to their "land" yet.
Even if times get Hard trying to Help those people get to their land Remember God's Promise in Joshua 1:9...

We are Called to Help others make it to their Promise....even when OUR own needs have already been met!
Walk in the Authority for which God Gives you....
True leadership sets clear boundaries but walks with others until everyone reaches the promise 🩷
Most importantly I feel God REALLY wants All of us to Know to Be Strong and Courageous....Do Not be afraid or Discouraged.....because The Lord Our God is with us EVERYWHERE we go!!
