Step Into Your Calling: Stop Hesitating and Take What God Already Gave You (Joshua 18&19)

Joshua 18 Starts out with the whole assembly of the Israelites setting up tents and gathering at Shiloh .

Joshua then asks them

"How Long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given you?"

Basically..... WHY haven't you taken what you have been given yet?!?!

These chapters show God’s people hesitating while their inheritance sits ready and waiting for them!!

He then goes on and gives them Specific instructions to survey the land and write a description of it according to the inheritance of each.

After they have written the descriptions, they are to bring them back, and Joshua will then cast lots for them in the presence of the Lord.

Ch 18 also reminds us again that the Levites do not get a portion because the priestly service of the Lord is their inheritance.

Then the rest of the chapter, and all of chapter 19, begin laying out the specific boundaries for each tribe as they finally step into their inheritance.

When the allotments are finished, Joshua himself is the last to receive land.

His portion is small, but it sits in a central, strategic place.....perfect for the leadership role God called him to.

My Takeaway:

I'm a visual person, so I had to pull up a

map just to see all this land that we been covering the past few chapters, and as I looked at that map, it hit me that even though it doesn't all Look the same God assigns our portions with the Same intentionality...

Map of Israel’s tribal territories in Joshua 18–19, illustrating the different portions God assigned to each tribe.

If you notice each tribe received a different amount of land....

Larger tribes were given larger portions, and smaller tribes received smaller ones. Then the constant reminder of the Levites.....who didn’t receive land because their inheritance was serving the Lord.

.....The Body of Christ is the Same.

We’re all part of different “tribes,” so to speak.

So, we are NOT all going to Look the Same, Move the Same, or do things the Same....

Some of us have big circles, big callings, or big responsibilities. Others have smaller ones. But every portion is intentional!

Big or small… wide or narrow… public or quiet....

Each of us have a purpose that fits exactly where God has placed us. No "tribe" was more important than another, and no calling today is greater than the next.

We’re all designed differently, but EVERY role matters in the Kingdom.

And honestly, I see it too often lately......Christians knocking other Christians down simply because they’re not doing things the same. That has to stop!

We’ve got to stop worrying about what everyone else is doing!

The tribes weren’t called to compare their land, question someone else’s boundaries, or complain about who got what. They were called to step into their portion. It’s the same for us. We waste so much time looking sideways when God is asking us to look forward.

And that’s what makes Joshua 18–19 hit even harder.

God didn’t just assign their portions....He expected them to step into those portions. The land was already given to them, but they still had to MOVE.

Sometimes the only thing standing between us and what God has already prepared is our own delay… and honestly, our own disobedience.

Joshua 18–19 reminds us that God’s promises have already been given....He's just waiting for our participation.....

Let's stop hesitating and start moving forward into the territory He has given us, so we can Finally step into what’s been ours all along. 🙌

He Loves you and So do I! 💕

Ask yourself today....

If Joshua asked you, “How long will you wait?” what part of your life would that question touch?

What area of your life has God already prepared the way, but you’ve been slow to step into it?

Lets move Forward and Claim our Promise Today!!!
