As followers of Christ, we should know we Will Always face Battles.
Have you ever been in a situation where you can actually see the battle (Jericho) you're about to have to face?!?
Scared, knowing God is calling you forward for a battle—but feeling a lil overwhelmed or confused on what you're supposed to do?
Well...crazy thing is I'm going through this Bible study with you all and God actually has me going through something that as I'm reading Chapters 5 and 6 of Joshua looks just like Jericho (battle)!!
So, lets quickly break these 2 chapters down first and then I will point out some things I Just learned Through HIS Word to help me through this Battle I'm Facing, and I pray it Helps you too...

🕊️ Chapter 5: Renewal, Restoration, and a Holy Encounter
1. The Enemy Was Already Afraid
“Now when all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings near the sea heard how the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the Israelites… they lost heart and their courage failed.” (Joshua 5:1)
The kings were trembling in fear. The Israelites had momentum because they JUST crossed the Jericho on dry land—but instead of rushing in, they paused.
2. A Time of Renewal
Verses 2–9
God tells Joshua to circumcise the men who had been born in the wilderness.
If you're wondering why....
Circumcision was a physical sign of God’s covenant, beginning with Abraham.
It symbolized commitment to God and there is also a spiritual connection - circumcision of the heart—cutting off fleshly desires to be fully devoted to Him.
Before stepping into the promise, they had to renew the covenant.
“Today I have rolled away the shame of Egypt from you.” (Joshua 5:9)
That’s why the place was called Gilgal, meaning “to roll away.”
Gilgal also symbolizes:
Removal of Shame
Time of Remembrance
Time of Renewal
Time of Restoration
Time of Rededication
3. Restoration in the Waiting (Verses 10–12)
While healing, they observed Passover and ate the produce of the land and the manna they had been living off of had ceased.
4. A Holy Encounter (Verses 13–15)
Joshua meets a man near Jericho and asks, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”
“Neither,” he replied. “I have now come as commander of the Lord’s army.”
Joshua falls facedown because he knows this is a divine encounter. The commander then tells him:
“Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did.
So, this was a Holy encounter with the Lord!! 🐦🔥
🏰 Chapter 6: The Battle Plan
God gives Joshua the strategy: march around Jericho once a day for six days. On the seventh day, march seven times, then shout after the trumpet blast. The walls will fall.
But here’s what really stood out to me:
“Do not shout or let your voice be heard; don’t let one word come out of your mouth until I say ‘Shout!’ Then you are to shout.” (Joshua 6:10)
That kind of obedience? That kind of silence in the face of a battle? That’s not easy. (I'm learning this firsthand right now)

He also gave them instruction that everything is set apart for the Lord's destruction EXCEPT for Rahab and everyone in the house with her because she was Loyal to the Lord and hid the messengers.
So, on the seventh day they marched around seven times and when they heard the blast of the ram's horn, they shouted and the walls collapsed.
They advanced and conquered the city!
💡 What God Is Showing Me
The kings feared the Israelites before the battle even began. Why? Because God been moving. The Jordan was at flood stage, yet the Israelites crossed on dry land. That miracle alone shook the enemy.
Instead of charging in when momentum and fear was High, the Israelites waited. They followed God’s instructions. They healed. They remembered. They renewed their covenant—all on enemy territory.
Scholars say around 600,000 men were circumcised. That’s a whole lot of circumcising and healing… in a dangerous place. But they trusted God to protect them while they obeyed.
They observed Passover—remembering their freedom from Egypt—right as they were stepping into the Promised Land. God’s timing is always intentional.
🎯 My Jericho
I been facing a battle that looks a lot like Jericho. I’ve seen someone using God’s name and leading people astray. When respectfully confronted with other viewpoints, she silences voices. She Blocks them! And here I am, reading Joshua… about Jericho… about specific instructions.
Let me just tell you—it is HARD to march around your battleground and keep your mouth shut for seven days.
Ya girl has REALLY been struggling!

But through it all I just been trusting God.
I Been waiting for His command to "Shout".
I know He’s been moving, and I been just trying so Hard to stay quiet and not mess things up.... because let me be Real Honest right here.... I So badly just wanted to Scream it from the mountains because I feel what's being going on and how she Mocks Him is Not right!
But I have to remember I Once too was Lost and Blinded by the world....
and He had to rescue me!
The Battle Belongs to the Lord...I'm just here to Obey, walk in Faith, and Shout when He tells me to!
🏁 My Takeaway (For Now…) When we truly follow the Lord, we will face battles. Sometimes we see them coming from the other side of the flooded Jordan. Even when we step out in Faith and God parts the waters and dries the ground for us, we still have to:
Pause on the other side.
Wait on His direction.
Get our hearts right.
Rest.
Observe His goodness.
Even if we’re standing directly on enemy territory.
Because when we Trust Him—when we follow His voice—He Will show up. He Will Protect us. He Will fight. He Will bring those walls of Jericho down!
Are you facing a "Jericho" right now?! Do you feel like you are on enemy territory, and you don't know what to do?!
If so, Please Remember those steps above...Pause, wait on HIS direction, get your heart in the right posture while waiting on Him, find Rest in Him, Remember His Goodness, AND I PROMISE He WILL Protect you in the meantime, and He WILL SHOW UP!!
In my Jericho...it was hard to keep quite. I recently spoke up a few times when He led me to, and let me just say...
The walls ARE Currently Falling!! I Will speak more on this if He leads me to!
But for Now...REMEMBER....
The BATTLE Belongs to the Lord!! We are just called to be Obedient and Walk in Faith!
“Where is God calling you to pause, renew, or rededicate today?”
